The International Crisis Group is thrilled to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Trustees. The Board plays a pivotal role in guiding Crisis Group’s global mission of preventing, mitigating and resolving deadly conflict.

Darian Weltman Swig is the co-founder of Article3.org, a non-profit focused on strengthening the human rights philanthropy ecosystem, and the founder of Article 3 Advisors, a not-for-profit consultancy working at the nexus of human rights and strategic philanthropy. Previously, Ms Swig was a member of the International Board of Human Rights Watch for twelve years, serving in numerous leadership roles. She brings with her over a decade of experience in the field of international protocol. Ms Swig also serves on the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley and as an adviser to the Stanford Center for Human Rights and International Justice.  

Kerry Propper is a founder and managing partner of ATW Partners, a private equity fund based in New York, the founder and chairman of Chardan Capital, a New York-based boutique investment bank, as well as a member of multiple private companies’ Board of Directors. Mr Propper is a dedicated activist and philanthropist who has been a member of Crisis Group’s Advisory Council for more than a decade. He has focused his activism and philanthropy on helping marginalised populations that face mass atrocities around the world. Mr Propper is a co-founder and board member of Nadia’s Initiative, a non-profit that advocates for survivors of sexual violence and aims to rebuild communities in crisis. He also serves on the Executive Board for Keep A Child Alive, Voices of Rwanda, Yazda and Digital Citizens Fund, among other organisations. In addition, he is the producer of Watchers of the Sky, an award-winning documentary on genocide.

“Crisis Group stands to benefit enormously from the addition of these two highly influential individuals”, said Crisis Group’s Co-chair of the Board Frank Giustra. “Their years of experience and knowledge at the highest echelons of their respective fields bring impetus to Crisis Group’s mission at a crucial time for conflict prevention worldwide”.

With the latest additions, the Board now consists of 48 individuals from 29 countries.
